The aim of the Young Masons Forum is to understand and address where possible both these and any future issues which affect the enjoyment of and in some cases the continued involvement of young masons in the Craft. The current average age of Freemasonry is in the high 60’s. The target of the Province is to reduce this into the 40s or lower. This is a tall order but is for the obvious reasons that a vibrant membership across all ages brings with it the drive of youth, the steadying hand of maturity and the experience of age. Without it seeming demeaning and we do not want to give the wrong message here, the Forum wants to try to make Freemasonry a society that is the prominent “club” to which its young members want to invite their friends. This is not without its pitfalls and we are equally aware of the overriding requirement for quality over quantity.
The forum itself consists of younger masons and it would like to hear from anyone who would like to give an opinion or air their thoughts on their experiences of Freemasonry. We as a forum do not want to be, nor would it work if we were, dictatorial as to the way forward. The issues are so diverse that the initial phase is to get dialogue moving on what are the perceived likes and dislikes of our younger fraternity. However our links with the other Masonic forums such as the New Masons Forum and Mentoring can allow us to provide a joined up response and coordinated approach to the future. We would be delighted to hear from anyone with views on the issues or interested in participating in this group which can be done by sending a mail to the Forum's Secretary. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
